A Corner of Colour
My Summer Garden
2025-06-17
There’s a certain kind of magic that happens in my garden. This little corner beside the house is a perfect example of that. The foxgloves (mostly volunteers) are front and centre this week, with shades of soft pink and deep magenta swaying in the breeze. They always seem a bit wild and whimsical, dancing to their own tune.
Lovely bell-flowers stand tall and elegant, bringing back memories of my grandmother's garden. They are doubled or tripled in size from last year. I just leave them be.
There are always California poppies that appear out of nowhere. They offer a cheerful pop of colour. The chubby bumble bees are happy, fluttering from one blossom to the next.
The developing blooms of the hydrangea hint at what’s coming next. Behind the scenes, hellebores and joe-pye weed are getting stronger each day to complete the picture.
This patch has become one of my favourites to visit during morning garden rounds. I love how nature adds its own flair to the plan—making it all the more satisfying to watch unfold.
