Prairie Whispers
Depicting the Quiet Beauty of the Prairies
Prairie inspired paintings
The idea of doing a series of Prairie paintings came about while visiting my parents in Fort Qu'Appelle. Their neighbour dropped by and asked “Can you make me a painting of the Kelliher elevator? My wife grew up there and she would love it.” Shortly after that another lady asked me to paint the elevator in her hometown of Lang. I found that painting these commissions were rewarding and I was able to capture a small bit of history on the canvas. I continued on that path of trying to capture the simple beauty of the prairies.”
This series evokes a simpler time; finding beauty and contentment in some of the simpler things in life, bringing back fond memories of your heritage.
I love painting prairie scenes as I am able to preserve a small bit of history on the canvas, while capturing the quiet beauty of the prairies.”
