Curating
Another role that I have taken on in my art practice is curating. It came as a natural progression, as I have been curating my shows throughout my career, whether through a gallery or in my home studio.
Under the umbrella of the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville BC, I took on the role as curator at the Bayside Oceanside Resort.
As the publisher of Island Arts Magazine since 2008, I have had the pleasure of meeting some exceptional artists, and this is a role that allows me to continue promoting and supporting Vancouver Island Artists.
This unique collaboration between the Bayside Resort and the McMillan Arts Centre transforms the Bayside into a living gallery — one where guests can experience and purchase original works by Vancouver Island artists. ART@the Bayside brought together 100 curated pieces of artwork throughout the Bayside and developed a selfguided art Tour Kiosk in the resort’s lobby.
Guests can scan QR codes throughout the hotel to learn more about each artist and their work, making art both discoverable and meaningful.
This initiative supports artists, inspires travellers, and brings beauty to shared spaces. I’m proud to be part of a project that celebrates creativity in such an approachable and community-driven way.
